Robert Alexander Simon, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist an Internationally Recognized Leader in Forensic Psychologist Consulting with over 35 years of experience in the legal domain of family law and domestic relations. Based in San Diego, CA and Maui, HI, Dr. Simon consults on complex parenting and child custody cases and is an active teacher and lecturer on an international level. He is honoured to join the Board of Directors of the World Congress on Family Law and Children’s Rights and appreciative of the opportunity to contribute to and learn from other family law professionals who are dedicated to the wellbeing of children throughout the world.
Dr. Simon’s professional practice focuses exclusively on forensic psychological consultation in child custody disputes. In addition to custody evaluation and mediation, Dr. Simon is a leader in providing expert witness testimony, strategic case consultation/”second chair” services and review/critique of child custody evaluations and other family law forensic work products related to custodial issues. Dr. Simon co-authored the ground-breaking book entitled “Forensic Psychology Consulting in Child Custody Litigation” that was published in May 2013 by the American Bar Association. Dr. Simon has published numerous articles in scholarly journals and other professional venues.
Dr. Simon has extensive experience lecturing and training internationally including in Australia, Singapore, Italy, Malta, Canada, the United Kingdom and South Africa, and has a busy speaking and training schedule in America. He has been an invited lecturer at numerous bar associations in America, and to the International Academy of Family Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Dr. Simon is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, a member of the Executive Committee of the California Bar Court, and an immediate past member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Dr. Simon is a member of the editorial board of the Family Court Review. In addition to his work in forensic psychology, Dr. Simon is an ethicist. He is a former member of the Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct of the California Bar Association, and a former member of the Ethics Committee of the California Psychological Association.
